why is the sims game bad

I only played the sims 3 a couple of times because I had an old computer that was a little slow with the sims 2.

I played the sims 2 up until a couple months after the sims 4 came out. And nothing will ever beat those sims 2 cut scenes!!! TL DR Sims 2 has a spontaneous charm that is missing from 3 and 4. I actually think Sims 4 is the proper sequel to Sims 1. Why is the telescope and microscope so freaking huge? Why are all the cheap furniture so nice looking still? I like Sims 4 CAS and build mode, but I think it's a bit over the top. I'm playing sims 4 now, and while I am enjoying it, there is a lot with the game that just straight up bothers me. I played all of middle school and high school with Sims 2 until it wouldn't play on my computer anymore and playing the sims 3 in college just didn't hold my heart quite the same. While I found the game unplayable for performance reasons, especially in the end, I can certainly say I loved playing but it just doesn't compare to the impact Sims 2 had on my life. One thing I do commend Sims 3 with was that once the expansions started coming out there was a lot to do. "Discuss interests" just becomes another chat option equivalent to "get to know" and there isn't an impact on the friendships as much as in Sims 2. There is no element of "discovering" what kind of sim your sim is because you got to choose exactly who they are. With sims 3 and sims 4, you pick traits so you know exactly what you're getting from the start. It was fun watching them get into trouble and you're just like "ahhh dog stop biting the couch" lolĪnd those cut scenes are amazing! I love the first kiss and first woohoo, it felt like these moments were special every time and meant something. Sometimes you would have a total hippy gardener sim all of a sudden love sports as their hobby and you think "wow, this got interesting!"Īnd pets weren't controllable which I personally loved. Then when Freetime came out, you could try all the hobbies but if you tried one your sim really likes, you would get a notification that read something like "your sim really likes this hobby! You will gain points faster pursuing this hobby" and that was random too. It was so exciting when you finally find the sim your sim has 3 lightning bolt chemistry with!!Īlso they had interests that would be chosen at random and you could actually see them!! The "discuss interests" chat option could possibly spark a heated debate like if you have an environmentalist talking to a sim that hates nature. When you visit a community lot, there was a "scout the room" option where your sim would check out all the sims and you would be able to figure out who they liked and didn't like. To elaborate my point, when you make a sim in CAS, you have to choose turn ons and turn offs that would greatly affect who they end up becoming attracted to. Sims 2 had a charm that we haven't seen in recent games and to sum up that charm in one word, it would be spontaneous. I've explained why I love Sims 2 in another post awhile back!! It's very relevant so I want to reshare it here. If Sims 3 took what Sims 2 already had and just made a seamless world without constant loading screens, I think the game would've been much more successful. I liked how you could actually go in the store and buy clothes and order food from restaurants. Or how ghost actually scared them if they were treated like shit by the founder. I can see this for absent-minded Sims but not for everyone! I liked when their social was low, they'd get a little crazy and see the social bunny. Its just like they're just completely oblivious to the world around them until something monumental happens. I feel like the other games just simply do not have this sort of domino effect. Sims 2, the child would run to the other room and cry. Like if the parents were arguing in front of their child in any other game, the child wouldn't even be effected. In Sims 2, shy Sims would practically run out the room if he saw someone woohooing. Sure The Sims 4 has this trait thing but all it does is show you that they are flirty, inspired, and that's just about it. For example, traits were actually something that effected the game. Sims 3 may have had an (amazing) open world and totally customizable objects and stunning visuals buy I just think it's missing some of the magic of Sims 2.
